  • Arm-of-the-Sea Theater.  Saugerties is proud to be the home of the Arm-of-the-Sea Theater.  As their fans know, they create and perform fascinating contemporary works of mask and puppet theater. Great for young and old.
  • Clearwater.  Launched by Pete Seeger, the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater has been at the forefront of the environmental movement as champion of the Hudson River.  For the past 50 years, the group that looks after the Clearwater has worked to pass landmark legislation like the Clean Water Act, and provide innovative educational programs, environmental advocacy, and musical celebrations, including the renowned annual Clearwater Festival, to inspire, educate, and activate millions of people.  The Sloop is currently docked in our neighboring city of Kingston.
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension - Ulster County.  Cornell Cooperative Extension puts knowledge to work in pursuit of economic vitality, ecological sustainability, and social well-being. They bring local experience and research-based solutions together, helping New York State families and communities thrive in our rapidly changing world.
  • Diaz Memorial Ambulance Service.  This ambulance service is the primary emergency medical services provider for the Ulster County areas of Saugerties (Town and Village), Glenerie, Glasco, Mt. Marion, High Woods, Blue Mountain, Centerville, Malden-West Camp, and Saxton-Asbury-Katsbaan.  They also cover a portion of the NYS Thruway and they handle over 2,300 calls each year.
  • Esopus Creek Conservancy.  A beautiful Web site, for a beautiful Saugerties-based organization that became a land trust in the State of New York.  Working with the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development and enjoying remarkable private and public support, they acquired a 156-acre natural property that shares a mile of shoreline with the upper Esopus Creek in Saugerties.  Its name - Esopus Bend Nature Preserve.
  • Falling Waters Preserve.  Its scenic treasures include a meadow with outstanding views of the Catskills, a couple of picturesque waterfalls and rock ledges that slant precipitously into the river. The preserve also contains the remains of the Mulford Ice House, a windowless building that held 10,000 tons of ice “harvested” annually from the river and destined for shipment to New York City during warmer months in pre-refrigerator days.  Free and open year-round, sunrise to sunset.
  • HITS Horseshows - Saugerties.   HITS, Inc. is a special events management company primarily focused on producing hunter/jumper horse shows.  Based in upstate New York in the Village of Saugerties, HITS produced its first horse show circuit in Gainesville, Florida in 1982.  Since then, HITS has grown into a nationwide company with world-class hunter/jumper circuits in California, Florida, Arizona, New York, Virginia, and Illinois.
  • Hudson Valley Garlic Festival™.  The garlic festival that started at Pat Reppert's Shale Hill Farm and has grown into the Saugerties September event not to miss.   Garlic bulbs, garlic food, garlic arts, garlic crafts, great music, ... this fun event is a must for all you garlic lovers out there.  Runs almost always on the last full weekend in September.   • Opus 40.   Created by pioneering artist and professor Harvey Fite and founded as a nonprofit by his wife in 1978, Opus 40 is a world-famous sculpture park and museum with nearly 60 acres of meadows, forested paths and bluestone quarries -- including 6.5 acres of earthwork sculpture -- in the heart of the Hudson Valley in Saugerties, NY.

  • Saugerties Arts Commission.  This commission believes that the arts are integral to a healthy society and vital for the enrichment of its citizens.
  • Saugerties Athletic Association (SAA).  Mens and womens adult softball, golf, volleyball and youth basketball leagues.
  • Saugerties Ballet Center.  This ballet center provides the area with a fresh and energetic exposure to dance.  The school offers training on a professional basis for students of all levels of dedication.

  • Saugerties Farmers Market.  The Saugerties Farmers Markets run Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. typically from Memorial Day weekend to the end of October.  It's located in the parking lot next to the Kiersted House (115 Main Street), across the street from Cahill School.

  • Saugerties Lighthouse.  A great opportunity for a short hike (15 minutes from a parking area on Lighthouse Drive to the lighthouse).  There, you can enjoy the scenic Hudson River, enjoy a picnic and (if you can get reservations), stay overnight at the bed & breakfast.  (Be forewarned and think about planning well ahead ... the lighthouse's waiting list can be quite long.)
