"Saugerties Stitchers" is a group that was created by Debbie Perry back in December, 2023.
As of Fall 2024, the group is growing (20 to 25 people per week) and is still accepting all interested newcomers.
All you need to do to be a part of the group is to be a stitcher (or a knitter, or crocheter or someone who does needlework of any kind). You join by showing up the first or third Thursday of each month in the Saugerties Greco Senior Center (207 Market Street). The sessions run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
To date, the group has had a really nice turnout of nice ladies. The group is mainly senior citizens, but younger "stitchers" have joined in as well. For anyone who just wants to come and socialize, that’s OK too.
The group takes advantage of the Town's Greco Senior Center. They get to use the space for free. As with any users of the Center, the Town simply asks that it is cleaned up afterwards, so it is not much different than when the session started.
There is no pressure ... no time commitment you need to make to be there for the full duration of the get-togethers. Anyone is free to use the sessions as a drop-in service, if and when any interested stitchers have the time to get involved.
Supplies
In terms of supplies, You need to bring your own supplies -- lunch, drink, and anything else you might want.
We supply cutting mats, some rulers, ironing boards and irons and extension cords.
Come Join In
Debbie believes anyone who joins will enjoy themselves, and offers that it's a nice way to meet a nice group of new people.
Come see the beautiful work that people produce. If you have any questions you can join the Saugerties Stitchers Facebook group (sign-up required) and begin the dialogue that way, or again, just show up for one of their ongoing meetings. When in doubt, please check the Saugerties online calendar page.
