The Town of Saugerties has developed a video tour of Saugerties, covering Saugerties Parks and Recreation, Tourism, Economic Development and Special Events.

The video has aged a bit, but can still give you an overview of the appeal of our Town and Village.

Saugerties Artists Studio Tour

SAST copy.webpIn August of each year, participating Saugerties artists and creators open their studios to the public for a summer weekend.  Hundreds of visitors become privy to the process of art creation in dozens of unique studios situated in village and country locations.  Painters, sculptors, printmakers, potters, illustrators and more invite people into their studios where they may see work in progress, completed works, and even possibly have a hands-on experience!

Most artists offer work for sale, often at very affordable prices.

There is an exhibit of the artists' works that is typically held on weekend, in July, in the Kiersted House Dutch Barn (Main Street, Saugerties).  The SAST website describes either the last studio tour held, or the coming one, depending upon when you visit it.

There is no charge to attend the opening reception and the open studio tour is a free, self-guided event.  Registration is not required.  An impressive, enjoyable tour.  Hope you've lucked out in terms of timing an August visit to Saugerties.

A Webpage Tour of the 21 Saugerties Historical Markers (and 1 Plaque)

Historical Markers copy.webp

This website has a "Saugerties Historical Markers" page that lists the known historical markers and plaques in Saugerties.  Scrolling through it gives you a sense of various notable historical aspects about our historic Town and Village.

Scroll down the page, and in a matter of a well-spent hour, your appreciation of Saugerties' place in history will grow by leaps and bounds.

And if you're inspired to do so, the map links to the exact road location for each of the 21 places.

Shown in the image on the right is the most recently (October 2024) installed marker, describing Snyder's Farm.  John Snyder was well known and appreciated for his generosity and helpfulness in lending neighbors money, to help them with house purchases, back in the day.

Saugerties Bicycle Routes

Bike Routes copy.webp2 Saugerties men about town (Mike Harkavy and the late Gil Hales) took it upon themselves to scout out 3 bicycle paths that allow the careful, astute bicyclist to see some impressive Saugerties sites.

PDF maps of the bike route maps they created can be found on this page.

We are obliged to tell you that if you decide to take a bicycle trip with their map as your guide, you need to be an adept bicyclist who's on top of your game.  In other words, stay safe out there!
