Job Posting Procedure
The Town procedure for job postings is that when a position becomes available, there is a check to see if the position can be filled from within the current set of Town employees.
If not, the information about the available job is posted on Town bulletin boards (4 High Street) and on this page.
If you have an interest in a posted job, please follow the instructions included in the job opening description. Full-time positions are listed first, then part-time.
Full-Time Positions
Full-Time Motor Equipment Operator - Town Highway Department
The rate of pay is $27.67 per hour, Mon.- Fri., 7AM - 3PM. The 2024 pay rate is $28.78. The applicant must meet the requirements of the position as outlined in the Civil Service Job Description. (See directions for a downloadable PDF with the full application info below.)
Additional requirements as per the Highway Superintendent:
- Applicants must possess a "Class B" commercial Drivers License issued by the NYS Dept. of Transportation at the time of appointment.
- Applicants must be able to drive manual transmission diesel trucks (no license restriction for this accepted.
- Applicants must be available for overtime call-outs.
- Full time Town of Saugerties employees are offered paid holidays, paid vacation/personal time/sick time, longevity pay, NYS retirement and health insurance.

Part-Time/Seasonal Positions
Part-Time Kennel Assistant - Saugerties Animal Shelter
Saugerties Animal Shelter is seeking a Part-Time Kennel Assistant. $16.00/hour with 15 to 20 hours per week. Responsibilities include cleaning, feeding, medicating and exercising animals.
Applicants must be 18 years or older and must have their own, reliable transportation along with a clean Drivers License.
Applicants:
- Should be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Should have a flexible schedule, as early mornings, weekends and some holidays are required
- Must be able to handle dogs of all sizes and fractious cats
- Should be a team player
- Should have good communication skills.
Candidates should also be comfortable answering phones and working with people. Experience working in a similar environment is preferred. Please send a cover letter and resume to:
