From a posting by State Senator Michelle Hinchey on her Facebook page:

"Today was a special day for Ulster County.  We unveiled the Ulster County Korean War Veterans Memorial Highway on Rt. 28, a designation made possible through legislation I sponsored with former Assemblyman Kevin Cahill thanks to an idea sparked by veteran and Kingston Honor Guard Member Ed Altenau.  As one of our busiest local roads, this stretch of Rt. 28 will serve as a permanent reminder to our community and the millions of visitors to our region of the immeasurable sacrifices our Korean War Veterans made for our country.  It’s acts like this that will help ensure we rightfully honor the service of our Korean War veterans and elevate their stories in public consciousness.  Thank you to our Korean War Veterans and to all who have served."
